What are my chances?

-pharmacy stores [walgreens, long drugs, rite aid]
-grocery stores [albertons, ect.]
-restaurants [i-hop, dennys, ect.]
-pizza parlors [pizza hut, dominos, round table]
-clothing stores [mervyns, gap, rue 21, pacsun, aeropostale]
-big stores [target, walmart, kmart]

im 16
going on 17

i have no work experience whatsoever

At your age, and given the jobs you list, luck is probably the biggest factor.

Luck, and personality.

Apply to every job you can find. When you go, look respectable. I understand individuality, but in business, people can be turned off by "cool" things. Dress one level down from how you'd dress for church. If you don't go to church, don't show much skin, no graphics, no crazy jewelry. Just keep in simple.

Now, if you go to apply at a tatoo parlor, or hair-dresser, dress as fashionably as you can.

Anyway, go in with confidence and ask for an application. Stress your willingness to learn. Be flexible but honest when they ask you about the hours you can work. They don't want to hear if you can't work on Wednesday's because you have a recurring date with your friends at the mall.

Be confident and friendly, and shoot for every job that's open. It will come down to who likes your first impression and who's hiring at that moment.

Your odds are better though in stores than restaurants. Waitressing is a whole skillset that needs to be learned. You may have to work at a small place before you can move up to a nicer restaurant.

Also, start and try harder at the places you WANT to work. You'll have more fun folding clothes and getting a mad discount than cleaning out a grease trap and washing dishes.

Be persistant too. You'll get one of those jobs.

Those who get ahead in life are those who are not afraid to work. Your first job is to find a job. Ask everyone... knock on every door.... smile and ask politely... show your very best personality. Be unrelenting! Do that and you will make your life a success!

You can get in just about any service type of job. for example I see high schoolers working at my neighborhood hardware store as cashiers and floor clerks.
