Will peace ever come to our planet?

Throughout history war has been used as the only means to solve problems between nations. There are wars for land, money, and religion. There is a war on poverty, drugs, fighting aids. It seems that war has become a standard part of the human vocabulary to the detriment of the term peace.
People even get demonized for advocating peace as in the "peaceniks" of the 60's. When we will ever learn?

Use it and think again how we can promote peace and remove war as a guiding concept of change.

I disagree with your premise that war has been the only means. There has been many, many disagreements that have been worked out and resulted in treaties.

To me, it seems the world has been moving closer and closer to peace over time, until we (U.S.) were attacked. That brought a realization that there is a different type of enemy lurking.

I wouldn't demonize you for wanting peace. I would demonize you for not recognizing that war can be necessary from time to time, and that war now could bring about peace later.

As long as humanity inhabits the earth, there will never be peace. We have way too many flaws.

Perhaps that's your answer, except I agree that the use of the word "WAR", is over-used, as an excuse for a lack of common sense. WAR used to be between countries, you're right, it has become perverted, as if WAR wasn't perverted to start with.
But your question was about peace, and it's a GOOD question. I don't personally beleive that the planet, as a whole will ever know peace. Our peace comes at the expense of their peace, like opposite sides of the clock. Can't be light here, unless it's dark there, and vice-versa. The poor folks we call "them", call "us", "them". Until "we", are all,"we","we", DON'T STAND A CHANCE OF PEACE!
