Is it wise for preachers like Wright to promote defeatism, paranoia, cynicism, negativity and pessimism?

Until I heard the racist and anti-American tirades of Barack Obama's pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, it hadn't occurred to me that the murderous fires in the black community were being stoked from the pulpits

I wonder if it's ever occurred to Obama and Wright that it probably doesn't help young people in the black community when they're told that their country hates them, that the U.S. government gave them drugs and AIDS, and that jail and genocide are the officially-sanctioned plan for them.

In reality, Justice Department statistics covering the years 1976 through 2005 show that 94% of black murder victims were killed by other blacks. Isn't Wright blaming the wrong culprit here?

Does he really think it's a good idea to jack up the level of the resentment and racism in a community that's already overdosed on Victimhood?

Oh, Wright thinks it's a good idea because as long as people think they are miserable and "powerless" they will go to church. He thinks that if people are happy and well adjusted there will be no need for God in their lives. It gives him power, and it's job security.

It's the same with the Democratic Party, by the way. If the people don't feel victimized and "powerless" there would be no need for the Democratic Party and all their hand-wringing and bleeding heart freebie handouts. There has to be someone to feel sorry for, someone only the government can provide aid and comfort to, or they would become obsolete. Makes them feel powerful and it's job security.

So what is good for America, including the unwitting victimized, miserable and "powerless", is bad for the Democrats.

In both cases, power is obtained by the willingness of the "powerless" to hand the power over, never realizing that they had the power all along! Never realizing that if they would only learn to fish, instead of Big Brother giving them fish, they, and the rest of us, would all be better off.

His pastor did tell the truth. The FBI put crack in black neighborhoods, THAT IS A FACT. The government infected black men with syphilis, THAT IS A FACT. He doesn't hate America and black americans don't hate white americans, we just don't like people like you.

I would suggest that you concern yourself with the goings on at the church that you personally attend instead of this one in the state of Illinois. Wright is no longer the pastor there so your question is as out-of-date as this story is. I submit that very few if any people would care about the teachings of one Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr., unless he happend to be the ex-pastor at the same Illinois church that Democratic Presidential candidate Barack H. Obama attends. To continuously cling to this story and try to tie the two men together shows that you don't understand the difference between the religious and political worlds, and that you are fresh out of mud to sling at Senator Obama, who is the actual candidate.

The REALITY is that this is Preacher incident is a tactic to divide this nation over an issue that isn't getting addressed. It isn't a simple as you make it sound and most people don't care until it affects them.

No. It is absolutely WRONG. We as a nation should celebrate the many strides that blacks have made throughout history, despite their suffering and great trials...Harriet Tubman, Booker T, GW Carver, MLK, Rosa Parks, Jackie Robinson, Louie Armstrong, Colin Powell, Bill Cosby, Oprah...the list goes on.

No, they have enough chips on their shoulders without him helping. Maybe people like Wright are the reasons why they have chips on their shoulders. Church should be uplifting and filled with love, not hate and bigotry.
