Do words matter?

Old Barack:

Don鈥檛 tell me words don鈥檛 matter.....

"I have a dream." Were those just words?

"We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal." Were those just words?

"We have nothing to fear but fear itself." Just words? Just speeches?

New Barack:

'God damn America.' Just words.

'US government created Aids, supplied drugs to our community.' Just words.

'US of KKKA.' Just words.

'What we are doing is the same thing al-Qaeda is doing.' Just words.

'Until now, I was never proud of my country.' Just words from my wife.

Somehow I keep coming back to the point that dismissing those comments clearly demonstrates a severe lack of sound judgement and that could be a disasterous failing for the President of the United States.

Barack Obama for President? Maybe some day, but not this time. He needs more seasoning.

Cliffy - you're right! But what he did do was to comment on, and dismiss the importance of, these comments that were made by his "mentor."

He never said those words. sorry.

problem is many don't pay attention to any words. they vote on a candidate's appearance, sound of his/her voice, quality of smile, dress, you name it, but sound judgment is not necessarily present in the majority vote. plus, when people hear something bad about their candidate, they are more likely to dismiss it than investigate it. scary times for the election of a president.

Of course, words matter! If you cannot take a person for his words, what can you take him for?
