Why are Americans so addicted to being afraid?

Terrorism, bird flu, SARS, AIDS, drugs, crime; a cornucopia of paranoia. The media serves it up and we gorge ourselves on it. What is the problem? Do we not feel complete unless we think something's out to get us? Quality of life is better now than it ever has been, why are we looking for the boogyman around every corner?

Because it's largely profitable.

Who would want to get stuck to the TV set when everything is fine?

Fear is the most profitable business.

This is a good question. We want to be informed and aware--I am not afraid of any of those things.

Always the peson who pays is afraid!...

Becuase us Americans are lucky

GUESS AMERICANS WILL HAVE TO FACE THEIR FEARS BECOME FEARLESS IT NOT EASY IN A WORLD WITH WAR IT PUT HURT ON OUR CHILDREN HEART IT SCARY NOW TO THINK WE GOT CONTROL LOOK AROUND YOU DISASTERS DO YOU THINK PEOPLE FEEL SAFE .... ASK ME AGAIN I THINK IT SCARY FEARING WE ALL DO THINK IT HURTS TO SEE PAIN EVERYTHING IS GETTING OUT OF CONTROL IT TIME WE PUT THE EARTH FIRST MOTHER EARTH IS STRONGER FATHER WIND CAN BLOW IT STRONGER THEN ANYTHING ON THIS EARTH

Because our lives are so easy. Women don't have to walk miles for water, there's no malaria, there's no famine with a 7/11 open all night and and if you don't have health insurance your sick kid will not be turned away from the emergency room because you don't have cash.
To make our lives complete we have to worry about SOMETHING!!
