And this is not considered terrorism ,.the pro amnesty stated no terrorism ever came out of Mexico,WHAT ?
Marijuana cultivation on public land in the U.S. is a multibillion-dollar business, run by Mexican drug cartels and guarded by heavily armed members of U.S.-based street gangs and Mexican nationals, says the head of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP).

"Our national treasures are now ground zero for international and domestic drug cultivation and trafficking," said drug czar John P. Walters. "We must push back against the invasion of foreign drug-trafficking organizations through increased law-enforcement collaboration, enhanced intelligence and expanded investigations to reclaim our public lands."

Mr. Walters made his comments last week during Operation Alesia, a multiagency marijuana-eradication initiative in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, the largest national forest in California.

Coordinated by the Shasta County Sheriff's Office with the support of the California National Guard, the weeklong operation involved 17 federal, state and local law-enforcement agencies.

"America's public lands are under attack," Mr. Walters said. "Instead of being appreciated as national treasures, they are being exploited and destroyed by foreign drug-trafficking organizations and heavily armed Mexican marijuana cartels."

ONDCP spokesman Stephen E. Schatz said violent Mexican drug cartels construct, operate and manage 80 percent to 90 percent of all U.S.-based marijuana plantations 鈥?most of which are in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Kentucky, Oregon, Tennessee, Washington and West Virginia.

Mr. Schatz said those hired to tend and guard them do so with high-tech equipment and state-of-the-art weapons

It seems to me like these Cartels want a fight and we need a clear aim in the War on Drugs. Elimination of these cartels can be it. If the leaders of the cartels have families kill them, kill everyone associated with these cartels and then can we claim a massive victory.

I think the language of his speech is a little over the top...Our "national treasures"? But as for everything else he said, yep, I believe it and I believe we need some serious action to "repel the horde"!!!

I feel as any other american and that is outrage at the fact that at the very least it is no longer safe to take a vacation into a national park, we should do what has not been done before and that is to treat them as the terrorist that they are and we need to enact laws that track down the illegal funds generated by the cartels and seize the assets

The only way you are going to win the war on drugs,is to take the profit motive away from drug running, how are you going to do this is legalization of drugs. same as legalization of alcohol, you are not going to get away from drug users in this country but you will overnight lower by 60% or more of your crime problem in the United States, you will cut down on the crimes committed daily by peopleTo get money to buy drugs. of people who sells their body's to get money to buy drugs. The court system and prisons are bogged down by drug cases. It cost more to keep a person in prison per year as its dose to pay tuition in some of the best universities in this country.But the police would be against legalization because it is very profitable for them ,they get to keep the money and property confiscated from the drug trade, We have over 2 million people incarcerated in this country ,the billions of dollar that it cost the American taxpayer to pay for the upkeep of this prison system. Of which more than 65% of those prisoners are in for drug violations.
The drug problem in this country is an American problem, Not Mexico's .
