Drug cartel has terrorist ties and was known since 2001?

A former director of the Drug Enforcement Administration warned federal officials shortly after the September 11 attacks that violent drug cartels from Mexico were teaming with Muslim gangs to fund terrorist organizations overseas.



Asa Hutchinson, who also has been a Homeland Security undersecretary, said that in 2001, DEA agents uncovered the link between the drug cartels and terrorist groups but too few government officials listened.

Question - What are your thoughts ?

I heard about this last year directly after the illegal alien protests on May day.

My thoughts is that this "war on terra (yes I mis-spelled for a reason)" is nothing more than a smoke screen to get what they really want. If they wanted to make the USA secure, they already would have a 2,000 mile fence and more border agents...not attacking sovereign countries half way across the world which were under control and contained. (Oh, and WHO gave those WMD to Saddam? That is right we did.) He was not making more and that has been proven time and time again that he wasn't.

I believe it's highly possible and more than likely has occured for some time now. It appears that both parties benefit in one way or another and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if more of this information is uncovered when investigations begin with following the money trail.

A good argument for legalization of drugs, we'd get rid of these horrible underground organizations. It's also well know that terror is funded through opium fields in Afghanistan.

If people were more attentive, most nonsense would not affect our world so much.

The inescapable inquiry: with all the port security, much less travel security in general, how does all the drugs and weapons get here (that aren't manufactured here)?

Much like altered social ambience, some people never intended that our nation be free of such pathetic demise.
