Should students be denied financial aid due to a drug charge? If it were up to you, would you require this?

I am doing a survey on how many people answer yes and how many people answer no for my Journalism class. Please include yes or no in your answers because I can take a percentage from that. Thanks alot.

1st off i say pot should be legal. Its no worse than beer. Their are a hole lot more dui that cause fatalities then fatalities caused by driving while impared by pot. I think a better thing than giving them financial aid would be forcing them to join the military. It would save some of them from their drug habits. Serve atleast 4 years active with a 6 year reserve componet requirement afterwords. While there they would gain good job skills and become a functional member of society. I know their is a chance they will get involved with drugs in the military but if you ask me, the first time you are caught with drugs in the military should be a trip downrange for you. This wouldn't save all of them but it would increase our forses stregnth and take alot of presure off of the prison system. Military members can go to college while earning a good living and having housing paid for by the military. This would save a lot of people due to the fact that the reason they are on drugs or start taking drugs is because they are unhappy with themselfes. In order to do this the military would have to adjust there policies on recruitment so that drug convictions do not hold you back from joining the military but they could require a monthly drugtest to insure they are not relapsing. The only other trouble with this would be those that are too old or to overweight to join the military. If too old then make them go to a special Jail where they are not allowed to have anything. Maybe set it up so they do plant work like making socks or rugs or carpets. Or picking produce from farms. Jobs that illigal immigrants generaly do. These people don't get paid anything other than food and lodging and being provided medical care. They will be forced to do this for like 10 to 20 years. All proffit from this will be used to pay for their expenses and to take care of any family they may have. Any that is left over should be used to increase funds for our school systems so that less people will want to do drugs. If our government could set something like this up it would help prevent future people from becoming drug users, take some families off of well fare due to their husband or wife being taken care of due to them having a job, It would provide cheep labor to cover the jobs that come open after we force all Illigal imigrants back to their place of origin, and it would stregnthen our military during our time of crisis with North Korea, Iran, Iraq, and Aphganistan. So the answer to your question is no they shouldn't be given anything when others who have not commited crimes aren't.

Yes because they are a bad risk. they will some of them sell their soul for a few shots hits or whatever and i know this for a fact.

No. I think they should still be entitled to financial aid but have conditions put on it, like being paid to a trustee. there should also be conditions like only paid if they attend drug rehabilitation. To deny them aid just starts a viscous cycle of no hope. Every one deserves a second chance at making a better life for themselves but they need to prove themselves also.
