Good People (Pious) always try to be with Good and Bad People always try to be with Bad. Since the words - AIDS, DRUGS SELLER which comes under category of BAD, surely the bad people choice to be with them. Since you mention -righteous, pious which comes under Good, surely the good people's choice will be to be with them - Unless the person is ignorant of what is good and what is bad .

I would like to live next door to both but I really don't see the conflict. There is a family in my neighborhood whose wife is Muslim and the husband is Jewish. One of the kids is Christian, another Hindu, another Sufi, and one is atheist. The parents let the kids use the brains God gave them to decide. All have AIDS because some donated blood, some got transfusions and one was infected when a seeker of truth and love in distress cried and the tears fell on a cut. These are really interesting people, unlike the homogenized.
