Financial aid denied to those with drug convictions?!? |
I have recently decided to go to school for medical assistanting. I have spoke to the college assistant admin about scheduling and how to obtain scholarships. While searching through the long lists I stumbled upon a scholarship awarded to aspiring students that are denied financial aid due to misdemeanor or felony drug convictions. I reviewed the site and in 1998 a bill was passed making this legal. I have a misdemeanor conviction from 2001 and now I don't know if I will be able to go to school. Does anyone know a way around this? Still apply for aid their is a possibility that since it occured in 2001 that FA may consider the matter closed and award you anyway. Please speak to a FA rep. Just take another rip of the bong, and forget about going to school... It means while you were receiving financial aid you were convicted of a drug offense. then check yes. |
