Why are drug addicts placed in the "high risk" group of people that are more likely to contract AIDS?

other than the obvious sharing of unclean infected hypodermic needles scenario, they are also more likely to be out of control in certain situations while high, leading to more unprotected sex, more often than not with multiple partners. also turning to "unprofessional" prostitution -meaning unprotected sex, to pay for said drugs, just stating facts, not making a judgment call here.

Cause they use needles to inject themselves with all kinds of sh!t.. when ur in that state u aren't careful with what u are doing and it's likely that u can either get pricked by an infected needle or use the same needle as sum1 else

Mostly this is contributed to the sharing of needles as well as unprotected sex.

There is the possibility of needle sharing, the virus is transmitted that way as well.

Because HIV can be contracted through intravenous drug use, as well as, unprotected sex.

because of 2 reasons:
1. they use common needle for drug intake which is not sterlised
2. they most commonly indulge in things like unprotected sex and group activities.

Drug addicts might share their needles and this is what places them at risk.

the spread of infectious diseases by dirty needles is all that comes to my mind although maybe drug abuse compromises the immune system as well leaving the individual more prone .....

because they have way more unprotected sex with way more filthy drugaddicts than most other people do, and some of them share needles, even accidentally.

Cause the share needles and their judgement is impaired.

because drug addicts use needles and sometimes they use the same one as someone else,,,, so they pass HIV and AIDS around... and people how are high all the time probably wont wear protection when haveing sex....

1) Because they are more likely to engage in risky, unprotected sex with other infected people

2) Because they are more likely to share needles with other HIV infected people and receive HIV virus through the needle shariing

Because when you get high, you lose your inhibitions and may forget about practicing safe sex.
