Are we gving too much in Food Stamps?

We have all seen this. I was in Walmart and the person in front of me had a full cart to be paid for with food stamps. After paying with her stamps, the pulled out cash and bought beer, cigarettes and videos.

Are we giving too much in aid if people have cash for drugs and videos?

Well I think that people that are down on their luck for the most part are down to their own doing. But there are those who are working and just do not have enough to get through the month without a bit of help. Maybe this was a moment when this woman had a bit of extra money and decided to treat herself. As for the cigerettes, that does aggravate me, because of the whole I pay for there healthcare.. I know habits can be terrible hard to break, but if you quit smoking you might not actually need the food stamps seeing as how cigerettes are over 5 dollars per pack.. My sister is throwing an anniversary party, and she is paying for the stuff with her food stamps.. It is disgusting.. She doesnt work, her husband does, but he spends his money on stupid sh*t. Some people definatly need them, but I'de say that the percentage of those that need them out of the number who actually get them is close to .05%.

Don't you think that economically challenged People are entitled to an occasional luxury now and them? Many of Americas poor can't even afford a trip to Disney land for their children. If anything, I think Food Stamps should be for more than just food. Think of the children with no Ipods or Computers. Have a heart.

Not necesarily. The food stamps are issued forthe purpose of bying food and that is exactly what this person did. The beer, cigarettes and videos could not be purchased with food stamps. The standard does not include being certain the person has no money at all.
