Where have all the hippies of my generation gone?

The Woodstock, Donovan, Jefferson Airplane, live and let live generation. Have they all conformed? Not me-lol.

Still out here listening to Jefferson Airplane, recycling, making macrame plant hangers, still loving the peasant skirts, opposing the war, voting democratic, and driving the compact cars. Yes, Suzianne, a lot of us went into service occupations like teaching.

All we are saying is give peace a chance.

The men? Some of them got drafted and died in Vietnam. A few more had to clean up their appearance after they finished college and got a job. (Now they are conservative outside but hippies at heart.) One of my hippie friends has survived with his long hair and non-conformist attitude intact. He's a computer guru and fits right in with the young nerds. I think the rest of the guys have bought motorcycles and leather vests and are peacefully roaring up and down the highways.

The female hippies look and act the same as they did back in the 60's but they now have long gray hair. A bunch of them work for the State agency that I retired from.

I was never a hippie. I was the small-town Texas version of that California girl the Beach Boys sang about.

many are either dead or in re-Hab centers from frying their brains on drugs.
i used to hate the bath-less, scruffy looking creatures. when i was their age i was clean cut and i would always call the cops on them for panhandling and loafing around public buildings. the cops in my town (Dayton, Ohio) used to hate the hippies. every time i would call on them, the cops would show up and always arrest at least one or two of them. aahhhaa yes, those were the days.
