Illinois - Kid over 18 busted for drug paraphernalia (bowl) - not drug possession.?

Can't have a conviction on record for job and financial aid reasons. No prior record. Can public defender get him off without conviction or should I hire a private attorney? Looking for expert answers or answers from people with first-hand knowledge. Thanks.

No such thing as "kid over 18". This is an adult. Public defenders are only available if you can prove you cannot afford an attorney. You MAY get the charge dropped if you submit to a drug test and come up clean, but don't count on it.

knee jerk answer is suffer you did it but you can have it expunged if you can prove it's not yours and you are drug free

Hire an attorney. Make him pay for the attorney. It is well worth it.
