I need help on writing report on homelessness?

People without a home in America, is no surprise. 鈥淗alf to three fourths of a million people lack a place to sleep on any given night in the United States, and three and a half million will be homeless some time this year.鈥? When we think homeless, we think war veterans or drug abusers, but that is not always the case. With the increasing economical hardship we are experiencing in the country today, middle class people are also facing tough times. Many of them are living in their cars awaiting government aid. Homelessness in America seems to be increasing. There are many speculations as to why. Some blame homelessness on household abuse, and others say mental illness plays a significant part in the increasing number of people without a home. There are solutions to end homelessness, if not decrease it. Many people say that by giving the homeless money we encourage them to keep doing what they do instead of bettering themselves. We, the people of America have to work together to put an end to it.

A major factor in homelessness is caused by abuse brought on by the spouse in the household. 鈥淒omestic violence is the second leading cause of homelessness among women in the United States.鈥? Women that escape abusive relationships often find themselves with no place to go because shelters quickly become over crowded, so they are forced to go back to the abusive nightmare that seems impossible to escape. Some other forms of abuse are physical, sexual, and verbal.

The first sentence of the second para. is a little confusing. Try rewording it.

Third sentence - instead of using the comma and "so," insert a semicolon.

As for the end of the second paragraph, it seems rather abrupt. What kinds of physical, sexual, and verbal abuse? Include some tidbits about that.

Also, throughout reading this, I seem to be asking your report, "Oh really? Do tell." It's like you're just poking a topic, and then running away from it. Don't be afraid to delve into something - include statistics, percentages, quotes from the experts, etc.

Also, don't use "we" or "I" or "you" or anything of that sort. Find other ways to convey your message.
