Is there any way to get into the reserves (navy preffered) with a juvenile felony and a DUI?

I got a felony burglary when I was 16, I am currently 25, then a DUI 3 months before I turned 21. I have not been any trouble since and have even stopped drinking. As far as the felony my mom passed away when I was 15 and I got heavily involved in drugs which aided in me making many bad decisions.
I am a much better person now, but the recruiters said that because of the felony and the DUI there is no hope. They said 1 would be dealable but not the 2. Are there any steps I could take to be able to get in?

Talk to you local navy recruiter. They know what they can and can not get a waiver for. That's their job.

Unless you get an answer here from a recruiter or someone in your situation that got a waiver, you're just getting people's opinion.

It's gonna be hard. You'll need whats called a waiver or an exception to policy. The Air Force Navy and Marines, I can with 99% certainty say you will not be able to get one with their STRINGENT policies. In the AF-Navy-Marines, a DUI will get you kicked out . Try the Army National Guard or
Army Reserve. The problem with DUIs is the possbility of reoccurance. The military life is a stressfull one.

It can be done. In the interim, start typing a letter stating your case on why you deserve a waiver. Its required.
