CAT open sore on neck magot hatched size of 1/2 $ Vets apt. in 2 days is that 2 long 2 wait? Is OK otherwise?

She eats and drinks ok...I sprayed first aid spray on it last night and then put antibiotic cream on it today. She is ferral and I had her spayed year ago and tried to tame her but she is still rather "wild". Only reason I noticed it is because it has a odor. First I thought she drug a dead mouse in the house but then I seen the open sore so after we spent 15 minutes catching her we saw the sore. It is gross looking. The skin in the circle has healed and I am wondering how it will grow back together. I wonder if she will need surgery? To re-new the skin and sew it together?
She is eating and drinking fine.

No there is no worm or larve there now. Its open though. And yes it is like a bullet hole, only big. I don't think she can lick it because it it up to high on her neck like under her chin.

That calls for a trip to an emergency vet ASAP! If there's an odor that you can smell, it's obviously been there for quite some time and is probably infected. Please don't wait until Monday. See the vet today.

are you saying there is a maggot like worm in this cats neck??? If so it is called a wolf worm, and DO NOT try to remove it yourself if you bust this it will kill the cat, If this is what your saying thern it is the larva of an insect and you may need to see the vet faster but if it is not possible then i understand.

It sounds like a wolf worm to me too. They are a fairly common occurance in outdoor cats. My cats has had two, and didn't even seem to notice ( the wound looked like a bullet hole). You can't even tell now though.
You definitly need to see a vet as soon as possible. If it has an oder, it is infected, and could be deadly.

you have a warble. Back in the day the farmers removed them with a match tip---do not try that! It is round, mabye pulsating---e mail me if you want. I have been thru that twice. Vet must take care of it. No surgical removal will be needed. :)

you could try pouring iodine on it but you would have to wrap up the wound so she wouldnt lick iodine but that would be hard to do since she farrel but you could probably wait let the vet take care of it if it not bothering her

try to see a vet sooner, but if you can't im sure everythign will be OK.... Good luck, to you both :)
