I need some Input from people younger then me?

I have to make a decision that more then likely get me in to trouble and I need input from people younger then me who might know if I am taking this out of context or not. My 19 year old was dating a girl until the end of February. She has this quite insane mother who is also an alcoholic , who also abuses her her both verbally and physically , what I found quite strange as much as this girl would tell us what her mother has done in one breath she would defend her and ultimately you would be the bad guy if you said anything bad about her ( MOMMY). Come to find out the girl was on anti depressants, Zoloft and suffers from depression, when she was at our home all she wanted to do is sleep. Well in February she broke up with my son which was done on her mother behalf, she did not fit in with us,she claims we treated her as a charity case because were were trying to help her get financial aid to go to college and that pissed her mother off.our son told us just before they broke up she went to a party and got so drunk that she cheated on him and then used his password on his myspace and went on it and misread a conversation between an old friend that's a girl and claimed her was cheating on her.What my son know tell us that she has decades her whole life to parting And drugs and drinking.She lost her only normal friend and only hangs out with real bad people. She has an older sister who was her mentor and was trying to help as much as she could she also just disowned her because she has enough problems of her own. My son after a month started to talk to her again and her picture is in his face book again but I think he stopped talking to her totally at this point. Here is what is my problem.I went on her MYspace and she has a quote from a song by the Counting Crows called Round Here and the quote says she looks up at the roof seems she wants to jump, must be tired of life, must be tired of something. I know the song and it quiet sad, why pick that part of the song. With all she is doing, the sudden changes the depression, always being drunk and doing drugs at 17. I think she might be suicidal . I need to know if this is just a 17 year old acting out or should I act. If I act they ie her mother and her will know its me because I am very outspoken and right to the point. I just don't want to act when their is nothing their. I am quite stressed about this ... Thank you......

I understand where you are coming from...myself i would be very concern as well...some humans can turn their face the other way and not care (like her mother) but you have always been caring towards everybody. Word of advise you can't change someone if they don't feel like they want a change in themselves. I understand her struggling, i grew up with an alcholic father. Often i got blamed for things that were not even close to being my fault, for example i got blamed for my step-mother's miscarrage because i didnt want the baby. I was 7 years old when he told me this and i would never forget it. I hear your are very concerned but it's not your child and you aren't really in any position to help her. Best advise i can give you is if she wants help she knows where to find it, if she wants chase she'll look for it her self, she will come to you or anybody else for her, just dont push her away. growing up is hard for teenagers and all they could see at moments like that is rejection...you can't stress over it if it's not your child...worry bout ur own. and if you are meant to make a difference in her life believe me it would go as plan. leave it to Gods hands....

I'm 19, and if I had someone as concerned about me as you seem to be about this girl, life might have been a little bit easier. Sometimes, when a mother figure is either not there, or completely incompetent, teen girls really do need someone to step in. This girl does sound really depressed, and in need of help. It is popular (God only knows why) for "Emo" girls to use suicidal phrases to describe themselves on Facebook or MySpace, so she may not be that far ahead yet, but I wouldn't discount that theory. If her mother gets angry about you expressing concern for her, then that's her problem, not yours. Bringing attention to this family might be a good idea. Follow your gut. A woman's instinct is almost always right. Never forget that.

Well, it's obvious that you care about this girl, and that's great. Honestly though it's a personal choice. If you feel close enough to do something about it then you definitely should. However, you have to remember that she is not your daughter, and you have to be prepared for some rebellion against you.

i think 褔ou need to phone childline or something, that is reall褔 serious. and she is onl褔 17. oh m褔 gosh, she must of been through so much at such a 褔oung age. if 褔ou want to act, 褔ou should reall褔 help her. if i was in 褔our position i would!

umm... do something now! i'm sixteen, and i have unfortunately dealt with many suicidal teens. this is exactly the beginning. even if she's not suicidal (which it sounds like she is), she is crying out for help so loudly that something should be done. don't worry about the insane mother... there are child protective services to take care of that. but you definitely need to tell someone before it gets more out of control.
