Can obsessive compulsive disorder go away?

I just when to a therapist 2 days ago. That's because for the last 6 months i've been suffering from negative obsessions with a high level of anxiety. The therapist determined that I have OCD, and prescribed 10mg of prozac to help aid with the disorder. This is the 2nd day I've taken it, and I don't feel any real effect from the drug. My question is how long does it usually take for the drug to start working?, and if the OCD can go away. BTW I'm 14 years old.

Prozac builds up slowly in your system. Your body will receive the maximum benefit it can in 4-5 weeks, but you should begin to feel better gradually, by the second week and then day by day, up until week 4 to 5.

So, you really won't feel much for the first to second week.

No, there is no medical cure for OCD, but medicine helps manage the symptoms. You may begin to outgrow OCD in your thirties and older. Not always, but sometimes.

I take 200 mg of Zoloft everyday for OCD. 10 mg. seems like an initial dose. I've been told it's not therapeutic until 150-200 mg. It can take weeks for you to feel the benefits and you have to ramp up slowly. You may want to take a sedative with the Prozac because it could be increasing your anxiety, after all, it is an anti-depressant. There is not cure for OCD. Just continue to challenge your thoughts and compulsions and your fears/thoughts will diminish.

i think its like alcholism (not really but in the way that) i dont think it ever goes away it just get easier and better not perfect tho

It takes 16 months for the symptoms of OCD to go away.
