If I want to go to a community college first and I still get help with a univeristy financialy? |
As I enter in a new year of school in a month I realized I needed to get more information on my lil plan for college. I would like to first go to community college to save money and make sure I'm spirtually ready to leave home. Now I'm wondering will I still recieve much help with things like finaancial aid or fasfa (if there not the same thing) if I went to a community college first. Basically After cc I would love to attend Howard University however I'm trying to figure out would I get more money for college if I went straight to Howard and skip the CC. Plz help no one or two word answers to help me figure out my life plan plz. It means a lot. go straight to the 4 year. if you wait a year you'll never go. You can get financial aid for community college, just as you can for a 4 year university. Go to the registrar's office atthe community college and they will give you all the forms to apply. Good luck! Financial aid is also based on cost of attendance of the school you plan to attend, so you will get more for going to a more expensive university. Your FAFSA family contribution will remain the same so if you have a large share to pay before aid you would save more money going to the jc first. my daughter is going to a community college this fall along with finishing her senior year in high school. i have had to look into this because i cant afford to send her so i had to look into finacial aid for her. with what she wants to do which is be a chef she has to attend a community college frist and then go to a university after that and we can still get finacially aid for her university classes also. You can start a a community college and than transfer, to 4 year college. if you are eligible for financial aid, you would receive it at either the community college (cc) or university. most financial aid is loan based with little in way of grants. cc's cost significantly less than universities so I would suggest completeing your associates degree (2yrs) first and then transferring the degree to the university of your choice. when you are done with all of your general education classes at the cc, you would only have an additional 2 years to finish your bachelors. if you decide to only take a few classes at the cc, make sure that they are transferrable to the university of your choice by speaking with advisors from both schools. |
