Want to know about Obama's and Hillary's work in the Senate?

It took me quite a while to gather this infomation about the bills that each sponsored in the Senate in 2007. Amendments to existing bills were not used. I then picked the above-average bills of each candidate. If you want to check my work, go to the U.S. Senate, then find THOMAS which gives the legislative information from the Library of Congress.

Bills sponsored by Obama - 55
They include 7 bills for veterens One to reduce oil dependence One for oversight of private security companies operating under federal contracts

Bills sponsored by Clinton - 87
They include 6 bills for veterens
One to report on free-trade agreements with US
One for higher education for low-income students
One to meet housing needs of Americans
One to report on contingency plans for redeployment in Iraq
One to reduce military spending and aid in Iraq
One to promote education in developing countries

Thank you for doing this.

who cares neither of them are going to win.

you must care, good for you

Wow there is another Candidate, his name is McCain. Go and find his big list of bills. Vote Republican in 08!!!!!!!!!!!For a Free America

13 bills between 2 senators. How experienced is that?

So according to this neither has MUCH EXPERIENCE!

McCain has far more experience!

You give a vague representation of the bills. Further research is required to know what "addons" were listed with the bills.

I have not looked into many of them myself so I do not feel qualified to give an answer.

Your telling me they actually showed up to work in 07. Sorry dont believe it. They were out campaigning the whole time. They may have sponsored them, but they werent actually there to see them through. And of those, how many actually made it out of the Senate?

O, and Hillary suports our troops but wants to cut funding for them for supplies. Typical.

This election is so messed up.

Obama = Communist
Clintion = No one trusts her, and she flip-flops on her stances
McCain = Claims to be conservative, yet hires many liberals on his staff, including one of his staff who believes in MexAmeriCanada (making Mexico, the US, and Canada one country).

Anyone else thinking 3rd party this year???

I suppose it's good to know what kind of issues each stands behind. But, the amount of bills sponsored doesn't mean all that much.

One might sponsor any bill that comes along that looks pretty and shiny just to get their numbers higher even if they know the bill won't possibly pass.

Yes? Hillary Clinton claims 35 years of experience Obama claims nothing....so from that time frame would I say Obama did a lot more already than Clinton did.....

I think 2006 would have been a better year to pull from because they both had standard attendance and both published more in 2006. Obama and Hillary moved towards the party fringes in 2007, as is expected in a primary campaign year- Obama becoming the "most liberal senator" and Clinton moving from the 32nd to the 16th most liberal, which is where Obama was 2 years ago. As you can see by the bills they sponsored, both are very similar, although Obama appears to have been working more on foreign issues and Hillary on domestic issues based off of the legislation that you specified. Given Obama's work as a community organizer (church based social worker) it is obvious where he stands on domestic issues despite not cosponsoring any bills this last year on the issues (at least not that you displayed.

As for John McCain, he is the only senator who did not vote frequently enough (a mere 50% is frequent enough) to get ranked as liberal or conservative, so a show of his record from last year is dwarfed by both democrats.

interesting, now how many times did they vote "absent"?

yeee BARACKKKKK !!!
