Any one who knows laws about litigations, please help?

Today I helped aid in the recovery of a missing, run away child. He has been missing for over a month and the flyer I have notes in big letters a $5,000 reward leading to his recovery along with arrest, prosecution and conviction of person(s) involved in his abduction and concealment.

I called the police when I saw him and I saw the police arrest him and take him into custody. I spoke with the father and he thoroughly thanked me and told me he would be in touch.

He is a retired ex-detective working with the department on the recovery of his son and I obviously provided the information for his recovery.

My question is if he does not provide me with the reward money, do I have a case to take him to small claims court and sue?

"you recover a missing child, and your only concern is how to sue the father, in the event you dont get your reward money

you've told us more about you, than we'd ever care to know"

Are you kidding me? A kid I bearly know and whom I spent time looking for, a run away kid who was not abducted, I find and provide the information needed for the recovery and you think it's bad that I think I deserve the reward on the flyer?

I may not try to take him to court if he doesn't pay, but it was only a question, you needn't take out your opinion on me.

that is a type of unilateral contract. however, there is some ambiguity in that it sounds like you have to also provide information "leading to his recovery along with arrest, prosecution and conviction of person(s) involved in his abduction and concealment." therefore, if you sue, you may not recover.

"unilateral contract
n. an agreement to pay in exchange for performance, if the potential performer chooses to act. A "unilateral" contract is distinguished from a "bilateral" contract, which is an exchange of one promise for another. Example of a unilateral contract: "I will pay you $1,000 if you bring my car from Cleveland to San Francisco." Bringing the car is acceptance."

"Reward offers are usually unilateral contracts. The offeror (the party offering the reward) cannot impel anyone to fulfill the reward offer. An offeree can sue for breach of contract, however, if the offeror does not provide the reward after the offeree has fulfilled the contract's requirements."

Are you serious? It just happened TODAY. Let the family get themselves together before you go around asking them for money.

I have a feeling you're making this up.
