Was there a budget cut in the food stamp program?

I read that in 2005 they wanted a large budget cut in aid, including the food stamp program, however later they decided to drop it. Can anyone give me any information if there were actually any budget cuts or what had happened or has? thanks.

It all depends on where you live. Each state is looked at by the Federal government and they get grants based on need and accuracy. States can also be fined by the feds if they don't comply with regulations. So if your state has a budget decrease for food stamps it MAY because they were fined or did not get a grant.
