All you who bandy about the term "traitor"-- don't you need a refresher course in Constitution 101?

The Constitution specifies what treason consists of: Waging war against the United States, and giving [material] aid and comfort to our enemies.

This means sending them money, weapons, or disclosing top secret information. It does not mean dissenting from Administration policies, even if it puts a smile on their faces. That's part of the price of freedom. It also does not apply to nations that might not be our friends, but whom we are not in a formal state of war with!

Too many people here have a habit of calling certain prominent people "traitors" just because they have a different opinion. Well, this is America. Opinions are not treason. If you think they are, you are unfit to be an American. Better get out of the habit of throwing libelous accusations like that.

And I bet a most of you bilious blowhards won't even read this and defend yourselves. Cowards.

Michael Moore is NOT a traitor.

Rosie O' Donnell is NOT a traitor.

Let's think this through. Republicans control the white house. They would like to be able to jail or expel those who call Bush a traitor or speak out against the war. So in a few years when the Democrats are in the white house, there will be similar comments against whoever is president. Then the Dems will jail or expel these accusers. And around and around it goes.

Political dissent is a constitutional right. Think about what you are asking for when you want people you disagree with to shut up. I may not like what you have to say, but this is what our brave soldiers are fighting for.

Clearly if you were a "traitor" in terms of the Constitution...you'd be imprisoned, or executed...so the term is used a little more loosely.

No, they are not traitors, but, they are not Patriotic Americans either. Key word, Patriotic, as in, all either are doing is trying to make money of a subject that is tearing our country apart.

It would seem that you are the one who needs "a refresher course in Constitution 101". Article III Section 3 delineates treason as follows:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

Notice there is no mention of the word "material" as you casually inserted. The Founders would have placed that term into the text if that was their intent, but it was not. The U.S. Constitution is the greatest document ever produced by Mankind and has no need of your editing it.
