About Professor Chow (William Kwai Sun Chow) - SOLID ANSWERS?

1. Does anyone know of or heard about Professor Chow? Can anyone provide background information about him as I would like to include this information in our family records back home in China. Our family worship hall (tong) is called the Chin Yin Tong with an estimated 40 million family members.

2. If China had an emperor, today, and this man was upright, honest, and honorable man would the vast majority of martial artist, today, give honor to such a man?

3. If such a man were living in the United States of America and was poor and homeless, would anyone in America render aid to him. Food, shelter, a job perhaps, and martial arts training?

4. If such a man had said for the past five years that growing up in America is the greatest thing that he has experienced and that he is aching to return back home to China to bring about sweeping changes, which will include democracy and Christian values. Would anyone, including American Christians, and even our US government . . .

If Professor Chow, who is now deceased, was this man, would any martial artist provide for this man's family and next of kin? What is truth? What is the cost of love, friendship, and loyalty? Deeds speak louder than words.

I am not here to make trouble for any martial arts group. I am merely trying to pose a solid set of questions in hopes of getting good solid answers.

Yes, I know of Professor William Kwai Sun Chow, also known as Thunderbolt Chow, due to his amazing speed. I will try to give you what little information I can. He grew up in Hawaii in the turbulent years before WWII . Professor Chow was born in 1914, in Honolulu Hawaii. His father had emmigrated from China, and William was first generation American. He dropped out of school at an early age to help support his rather large family. He was an accomplished street fighter and brawler when he met James Masayoshi Mitose at the advent of WWII. Mitose started a school of self defense called kempo jujitsu, Chow and a few others trained under Mitose. Chow at one point even worked for Mitose. In later years, he went on to teach his own schools of kenpo karate. Two of his most famous students were Adriano Emperado the Sijo of the kajukenbo system, and Ed Parker the creator of American kenpo. William Chow, never made enough money from teaching to live off, and because of his lack of education, was employed often as a stevadore or security guard. From what I have heard of him from those who new him, he was a very hard man, and had quite a temper. Unfortunately his lack of business knowledge kept him from being more stable financially. He was also very proud, when Sijo Adriano Emperado tried to get him to take a position of figurehead in his kajukenbo organization, a paying position, he refused. He thought it was charity, which he would not accept, as opposed to the honor it was meant to be. Professor Chow passed away in 1987. He may not be well known to the rest of the world, but to the kenpo / kempo / kajukenbo community, he is very well respected and honored as one of the legends of kenpo.

To gain more information about Professor Chow, may I suggest contacting Sijo - Emperado. He has advanced in age quite a bit, but is still very mentally adept. I am quite sure he could tell you many stories about the late Professor.

I found this question in my In box, so I am answering. WE have no idea of The gentleman you have referred. When you are so interested , you should have his date of birth, age,about his family, places where he lived, his profession, and any specialties, so that some body may try to answer.
When he was last seen, any photograph etc please take help from Police .
