Why am i unable to find a job?

Why am i unable to find a job?

I am relativley well qualified:-
NVQ II, NVQ III, NVQ IV - Business Studies
NVQ II, NVQ III, NVQ IV - information Technology
NVQ III, NVQ IV - Customer Service
GNVQ Advanced Information Communication Technology
GNVQ Advanced Business Studies
12x GCSE's at A - C (with 7 a*)
I also posess several other nationally recognised First Aid, Customer Service And IT Qualifications. I have 7 years work experience in the Customer service industry, focusing on IT. However the past 2 months, i have been unable to find any work at all. Even factories wont employ me to do assembly line work.
My interview technique (when i get interviews) is very good, and my CV is also in good order. Several friends have suggetsed that its just my time to go through problems with finding work (since i have always been employed) Any help would be appreciated.

Because companies want someone that they can "teach", thus "control". They want people who don't have any aspirations, dreams, etc..and who can't/don't want to think "outside the box". If you are "overqualified", they see you as a threat because you have the qualifications to take over their jobs.

i dont know. maybe you have to try other companies. or did you consider yourself that you might be over qualified. the way i see it, you have a cute picture, dont you want to try modelling instead?

Its not you
I think the job market is very tough nowadays
alot of people I know are finding it hard to get jobs

good things comes to those who waits!!!

Because you need plastic surgery. Look in the mirror.
You`re a big head.
You`re a tw@.
You smell.

You look like a tw@ in the hat.

Perhaps you are spending too much time doing this.

I really don't know! You're obviously very able. Check out your interview technique again, and then try to focus on your personality. Try to improve anything you don't like.

Go to a temp service. At least you will have your foot in the door.

it is the interview thats most crucial, it might show on your CV that you are very well qualified, but thats only a piece of paper and you need to show experience in the job that you want. relate to problems from your past jobs and tell them how you overcame that problem.

These are the times we live in. Have you considered finding work abroad? If this is an option for you, you should look into it. I have been looking for work for more than a year, with the help of a job coach and other resources. I have over 10 years work experience with 4 years in the field I'm currently looking in, a bachelor's degree and a master's degree as well. I have certifications/licenses in a related discipline, that would allow me to use my marketing background in a specific field. In both positions I've held, I was promoted fast and did very well, and have letters to prove it.
So...in short, you're not alone.
P.S. Someone mentioned temp services...those rarely work. They work best for administrative assistant roles and accounting fields. Otherwise, it's hit or miss.

It seems very tough to get a job because there is so much competition in getting jobs nowadays, I know exactly how you feel as I have been searching for temporary student jobs for 4 or 5 months and so far I have been rejected at least 40 times!

Have you noticed how small the jobs section of the papers has become?

Have you noticed that the number of people applying for the same jobs is very large?

Good luck in your applications.

keep trying- something will turn up when you least expect it!

maybe its the area you live in?

I'm sorry, but I cannot answer you question due to the high standard of the other posters. I wish you luck and am sure that you will soon find gainful employment.

Wow, I don't know what all that on the list means, but my dad always told me the hardest job in the world is looking for a job. Keep trying.
Do they have any job placement services in the UK? Also check with the school you went to if they have jobs posted.
It may be the area you live in too.

Because everybody in the world has qualifications these days.
Exams are easier than they used to be, so nearly every kid goes to college and probably has more qualifications, even though they are thick as pigshit.
BUT they are younger, can be paid less, are more enthusiastic and easily influenced.
I'm gonna go back to college and do a course so i can hire the little bastards at will myself, build them up....then cut them back down to size and leave them, rotting in the benefits office.

One of the main problems is one that I am finding perspective employers take one look at your qualifications and think however wrongly that you are to qualified or you will want to much money or that you may become bored with the job

Laziness - you're not trying hard enough. Sorry but that is what it boils down to.

If you wanted a job that bad you'd have one.

Sometimes it can take awhile when you are looking for a specific job. I know it took me a few months after I got laid off. Make sure your resume reads the way a potential employer would want it to read. I went to a temp agency and they helped me work on my resume. Once I revamped my resume it was a short period of time before I had a job. Also monster.com is a great place to find a job.

HOW DO YOU KNOW YOUR INTERVIEW TECHNIQUE IS GOOD ?

MAYBE YOU NEED SOMEONE OBJECTIVE / INDEPENDANT TO GIVE YOU SOME TIPS, THERE ARE PEOPLE AT JOB CENTRES ETC WHO WILL HELP YOU WITH MODIFICATION OF YOUR TECHNIQUES.

What jobs are you applying for? Also two months isn't a very long time. I don't wish to appear rude, but how do you know that your interview technique is good? I thought mine was OK until I went on a course where they video recorded me doing a mock interview. Stressful course but well worth it.

Keep at it - the right job will come soon - good luck!

Sometimes it's just a shear numbers thing. If you are hitting 100 firms a day with your C.V. applying for ALL the jobs you find and looking far and wide and still no luck, then you have a problem, if not keep trying.

Employing new people is a risk, ask the firms that you really want to work for, for a chance to work for free with them (good experience and it's always easier to get a job when you already have one).

If all else fails - re-train.

Good luck (you'll be working soon I'm sure)

There are loads of jobs there but maybe you are not looking on the right place maybe your expectations are too high

I have qualifications coming out of my ears too and only get minumum wage retail work. Have you tried a supermarket or a fastfood place - they employ almost anyone.
Good luck!

My wife went through a similar period to yourself. I have recently been in the process of interviewing people for the first time (different industry). I can only say that of the 12 people we interviewed, all of them gave the impression that they could do the job.
The final decision was made on very, very small differences.
Don't be downhearted. You will succeed. Just keep going for it and don't take the rejection personally.

NVQ says it all, doesn't matter how many you've got, they aint worth a toss! Do yourself a favour and don't put down any of the nvq or gnvq's and just go in somewhere offer your eagerness and willingness to learn, and don't mention them. You could easily get a job in sales, or a shop.
ps, I am highly qualified , but been out of the employed sector for a few years having kids, and I'm having the same problem. Try some volunteer work in the area you want to go in to, and then you have current experience and a reference. Good luck, hope one of us gets a job soon!

becasue employers are stupid pieces of crap...well they like people whoa re qualified for the job, but they unfortunately want people who arent qualified enough to have to pay them too much...employers like getting as much work for their money...they dont like paying you if they can find someone else who can do the work cheaper.

just put your area then jobs in yahoo search and you find loads of sites to help, just select what your looking for,and you can fill in online application forms aswell

Your over experienced therefore to smart.
Most employees just want to employ robots to do as they want.
Not someone who thinks..
Ever considered doing contracting on a self employed basis ..sign up with agencies..
Or even excluding some parts on you cv .( dumbing down )

Good luck

Ensure that you pay attention to your bodily hygiene needs. Bathe daily, and brush your hair and teeth.
