Tell me everything about quitting smoking! EVERYTHING!?

It is December 1st. I promised that today will be the day I really give forth an effort to stop this DUMB, distgusting, money wasting habbit.

I have gum and halls to help.

If you quit or have information to help me, please do so. I am going to need any aid I can get.

I watched my mother quit after 40 years...here is some of what to expect:

Cravings (never go away...creep up now and again), weight gain (food tastes better), moodiness, trouble sleeping.

On the upswing, you will have less air borne sickness (cilia back up and working), food tastes better, and quitting at any time increases your life expectancy.

Best thing you have to have going for you is....WANTING to quit, will power and a great support base.

no money will make you quit somking.

Check out some health Web sites. Once you get a good look at what your lungs may look like you will want to stop.

You want everything I know, and all the information I have about quitting smoking. But, you haven't given me enough. How long have you smoked? What do you smoke? (Cigars, Cigs, pipe) If you smoke cigarettes, are they full flavor, lights, ultra lights? Are they name brand, or the cheapest you can find? How much do you smoke? But, I'll answer the best I can.

!st. As any smoker knows, smoking is a mental addiction as much, if not more, than a physical addiction.

2nd. Quitting is tough, if not impossible for some people.

3rd. If you fail to quit, then you may do what I did. I smoked for 50 years, and was up to 3 plus packs a day.

Go to a lighter cigarette. Takes a little getting used to, but you can do it easily. Then go even lighter.

Quit smoking inside the house. This will cut your smoking in half without you thinking about it.

The results? I'm now down to about one pack of ultra lights per day. I've quit coughing. I breath better. I'm saving money. The house doesn't smell. Of course I haven't quit....but, when I decide to quit, it will be a lot easier to quit one pack of ultra lights, than three packs of full flavors.
