How to get a free divorce?

i dont have the money to get a divorce i was wondering if theres legal aid here in dallas?where or how do i go about finding the information i need?

You can actually find the software online to process your divorce. You should try www.cnet.com and go to their freeware and put divorce in your search engine.

Also in Dallas go to the Dallas County online page, find out for sure but I believe you can both go up there sign a piece of paper in front of a judge and be done with the whole thing (as long as you both agree) for $25 and an hour of your time.

if your divorce is amicable, then you can go to the courts and file the paperwork yourself for about $25 to $40. call your county courthouse and ask them.

Phone book, look for legal aid, and ask for a "Pro-bono Lawyer" ...that means they don't charge.....
However remember ... sometimes you get what you pay for .

If you and your ex-to-be can the write necessary papers, you still need to file in court. Call and ask your local clerk of court what you need to do to get divorced where you live. Then maybe you can avoid attorneys.

There is never a free divorce per say. But you can get a cheaper divorce by representing your self in court and doing all the foot work. Filling your self, drawing up the papers yourself, etc. I did that when I got a divorce and i saved thousands of dollars. I called the county clerk and asked them what the proper steps were and I went to the Barnes and Noble and purchased a book that showed you what the forms needed to look like, etc. You can contact legal aid and see what they can do for you but filing fees always have to be paid.

I went through the same thing but in California so I know how you feel. I know you can't be paying a lot of $ for a divorce but you will have to pay the filing fees. I had to & I didn't really have the $ either. Anyway, the fee for annulment, void marriage, & divorce w/o children are $215 and with children is $266. You'll need to find the right form for the type of divorce you are getting. Read them thoroughly. Lucky you, in the state of Texas you don't need your spouse's permission/agreement to get a divorce so don't worry about getting a signature. Before filing you should have your forms checked by the clerk to make sure there is no mistakes or things left out. If you can't get the forms on the site then you have to pick them up at the courthouse. On the court website http://www.dallascourts.com look up your courthouse for your district on the 'family court' map & get the address off the website. That will be your filing court. Hopefully you two can reach an agreement on who gets what before you file if there is stuff to divide. In Texas it does take 6mos to wait before the court sends you the 'final' divorce papers so be patient. Once you get those papers then you're done. Good Luck!

Never heard of a free divorce. But if you get a credit card you can do it for under $250
