Are you for or against Bush's request to grant retroactive immunity to US telecom corporations?

Telecom companies gave personal information AND allowed illegal wiretaps of US citizens by the NSA and are currently being sued. Bush wishes to grant them retroactive immunity which means (to me) they have already broken the law.

Bush threatens to veto any new FISA Bill that does not include retroactive immunity for these companies that have aided the Bush admin in violating the US Constitution AND have broken their biding contract of not sharing their customer's personal information/phone conversations.

Yes he should give them immunity. The workers did not do anything wrong. if anyone it was the CEOs that need getting rid of.

edit: Chi I did not say pole guys. I meant if the companies go down allot of people will loose their jobs and the regular worker would pay more than the CEOs./

I do not support immunity. I want to sue them for the violation of my privacy.

This seems pretty minor when compared to one of your heros, FDR. He rounded up all Japanese Americans and put them in camps. America would be stupid if it didn't take some precautions. It seems since you can't impeach Bush you want to slam dunk any business who helped him. If he doesn't protect them will they ever help the government in future wars? The ones who survive the lawsuits that is.

I am for it, We Dems need to have the same access to spy on the GOP as they have had to spy on us.

We need to get all the evidence there is so we can imprison them for life and seize all their assets, even their personal assets

We need to "Even up the playing field." and thanks to their stupidity that's exactly what's going to happen.

This is another egregious, overarching policy to add to the thousands of others. The interesting part of Bush's support of granting immunity to the US corporations is that he would rather protect the telecommunications companies than revise the law and protect the America people. So much for his GWOT.

Hopefully Congress can hold off any stall tactics until after the election and then hold them accountable for their actions.

I'm sure Bush wants a lot of immunities for a lot of things before the Democrats win the election.

I still don't see this as a violation of the 4th Amendment. Warrants are not required for phone calls originating on foreign soil. The only US citizens who had their calls monitored were those that made calls to known or suspected terrorists. I watched the House investigations into this and even the democrats didn't have a problem with it. You're crazy if you think that the federal government has nothing better to do than to eavesdrop on every American's phone conversations. There isn't the manpower to do it. The program has been used for years by several different presidents. Some out there are really confused. After 9-11, the Bush haters screamed that he should have done more to stop it, nevermind the fact that the CIA and FBI weren't even allowed to share information. Now, he's been trying to learn about terrorists plans, and they demonize him.

The immunity deal is a good thing. He knows that if a dem is elected president, with a dem congress, they can retroactively declare the telecom companies guilty. The lawsuits cannot be proven unless they can prove their calls were tapped. How many actually KNOW that they were tapped?

Totally against. This was all illegal, and therefore should not be rewarded. We can't expect anything better from Bush, the corporate, stooge and warmonger
