Question regarding FAFSA....?

I filled out my FAFSA and sent it in on Jan. 1 with the full inention of adding tax information later....it's March 1 and I still have not updated the tax information and probably will not have it filled out for at least another a week, so my question is, does submitting my FAFSA this far down the line affect the amount of aid I will be given? I was told that applying early generally meant more money, hence my entering all the information that I had avaliable on Jan. 1, but as I have waited so long to update it is my place in line for Aid still the same as it was when I initially applied?

Yeah, your app is pending and you have to be on the ball each year. The aid comes first in first out, which is why prolonging a completed FAFSA will effect the amount of aid you receive. You are no longer at the beginning of the line.

Consider this for the future. If you do not have over $5,350 in earned income, then you're not require to file. Even if you expect to file to receive a refund, you are still not required to file. You can answer not required to file and submit a completed FASFA quicker than most others who haven't realized this.

The sooner you have this information turned in the better your chances of getting free financial aid. There is technically no deadlines for receiving student loans.

If you didn't enter any taxes information your file is not complete and you cannot be considered for financial aid. You can use estimates for your tax information that will get your file completed. If you can get your taxes information done within the week you should still be in good shape, the deadline is March 31. It's better to meet the deadline of March 31, than to submit it after.

They understand it takes a while to get this information. So the chances of a lot of people having their tax information submitted by January 1 is rare. Most people probably don't get their tax information completed until now anyway. Good Luck.
