Wiccans, what is the reason for casting in rhyme.?

I know that the Wiccan reede says "speak your spell in rhyme" or something along that,

is there a magickal reason?

does it aid in the energy created?

please give me sources for the information as i would like to study this on my own.

the most commonly repeated part of the Wiccan reede is
"as it harm none do what thou wil"

but it is actually about 20 verses long and describes alot of the religion.

I am a pagan and a magick user and i am just wondering why the rhymeing in Wicca.

i can see that the phonetics of rhyme could create a better flow of energies but i have not seen evidence of this and i have not heard it talked about.

When teaching I have found it is easier for some to focus and raise energy while repeating a simple phrase that rhymes. It is easier to focus on intent without being distracted trying getting the words perfect.
A repetitive little rhyme chanted to a crescendo can raise great energy. It is also easier when working in a larger group for everyone to be in sync.
I do not think it is a necessity. It can be fun and it aids in inviting the "inner child" come out to play/pray. It also assist some to achieve alpha and stay there for the duration of the working.

rhyming helps people with damaged minds remember things

No magical meaning, It's just more eloquent that way, and may make some feel more ritualistic. It doesn't really matter one way or the other if it's in rhyme. IMHO

I don't know why Wiccans use rhyme but the Celtic Bards used rhyme and puns a lot. Bards were regarded highly in their societies for their ability to use words. In an oral society one needed ways to remember large amounts of information and poetic forms of rhyme, meter, and song were/are good Mnemonic devices.

Personally I hate rhyme. Some people love it. If you want to memorize things, *well-written* rhymes *are* easier to learn because of the rhythm. But most rhyming spells you find online and in books are horribly written and just plain annoying.
It's the INTENT that matters.

i don't know anyone that uses rhyme. I would think that is would make the spell easier to remember if you want to memorize it. Or because you have taken the time to make sure it rhymes you have but more of your intent into it.

I am curious as to if people that believe in casting spells or magic can hurt others with it or control people with it. I am a believer of god, the only god there is but i think there is a group of people that have tried to cause me harm or just plain have tried to mess with my life. I am sorry i can not be open minded to other religions because i believe in the truth. That truth is god and the only way to him is through jesus christ.
