Can T Cells mature anywhere else if the Thymus stops working?

For instance..If A 60 yr old man with AIDS and the Thymus stops making the T Cells. Is there another place a T Cell can mature after the Thymus stops working?

If so, Where and I would be extremely appreciative of a website or reference to where i can find this information.Thanks!

There is nowhere else that T cells can mature except the thymus. Studies have shown that loss of the thymus in adults eg. during some heart surgery procedure or other ways does not significantly affect the individual. The real challenge with lack of a thymus is when there is necessity to repopulate T cells eg. after a transplant because it is impossible. So, if you are lose you thymus after around age 25, they you will probably be perfectly fine.
Now, younger people who have not fully developed immune cells will not do well without a thymus.
There is a condition known as Digeorge syndrome in people who lack a thymus. In addition to other defects, these people suffer from all sorts of infections due to lack of T cells.

i dont believe that their is...if the man in question has aids (which attacks cd4 (th cells) as i assume you know) his th cell count will be so low that if their is another place (which i dont think their is) he will already be susceptible to oppurtunistic infections and unfourtunately on the road to dying...
