I want to know how I can qualify for Financial aid?

I am trying to qualify for Financial for college and when I complete the FAFSA form, I noticed that they ask for your parents information as well. Is it a way in which I can qualify for financial aid even though my parents have a high income where they make too much? The financial aid would really help me for my education expenses for college.

I know how you feel. my Mom made to much and FAFSA denied me scholarships. If you don't want to apply for a loan you can check out these websites:

www.fastweb.com
www.scholarships.com

Also ask your financial aid advisor for other scholarships. There are tons out there. If you are a part of a college club, sports, band, or even your degree program all usually have scholarships that anyone can apply for. You just have to keep looking and keep asking.

Good luck!

Well, if your parents make a generous amount of money, it's likely that you won't get as much financial aid as another applicant whose parents don't make much money at all. Remember, there's only a limited amount of money they can give, and it's only fair that it should go to students who have the least family income. How else are they going to pay for college?

However, that's not to say that you won't get any financial aid just because your parents make some money! They do take into account the fact that not all parents will help their kids pay for college.

Just don't lie on the forms to get more money. Tell the truth and take what you can get. After all, anything is better than nothing, right? :)

You can always apply for scholarships locally (check with your guidance counselor) or online (but those are especially hard to get). If all else fails, you can also try applying for interest-free loans to make your way through college.

I think the 1st person meant fastweb not freeweb. Unless you can yourself as an independent student (24 or older, have a child, been out of school for awhile, etc). then your parents HAVE to fill out their income info. I'll tell you this much we don't make much money at all and we did not qualify for any Pell Grants because our daughter has some bonds that were purchased for her a various times in her life (not much at that either) but it all gets added into what the family is expected to contribute for college. So what did we end up with? Loans and a bit of $ from our state since she is going to an in state school. It is not easy to qualify these days anymore. Good Luck though!!!!!!! Hey, Stressed t e-mail me- I might have some ideas for you.seriously do everything you all can NOW as it is getting really late for financial aid. Seriously guys, e-mail me and I'll try to help you. Your options are more open then my daughters are because she took 1 year off between HS & college.

I know exactly what you're going through. I need help too, so if you find anything let me know! I qualify for $0 need-based aid from the college I'm going to in the fall (I'm graduating High School next month). But, my parents aren't supporting me, so basically I'm screwed over. Thanks mom and dad! not! So, yeah, you're not alone!

If you have a job of your own, I believe that you can use your own income (tax information) to receive federal aid. At least, that is what other students at my college have told me they do.

First and foremost, "Financial Aid" means monetary help from the Federal & State Governments, in the form of Grants i.e. Pell Grant
SEOG
are both Federal Grants which you do not have to pay back.

Cal Grants A, B C are California State Grants which you do not have to pay back.

Then there are Student loans, Subsidized, Unsubsidized & PLUS...the latter being the loan a parent takes out for their child. if you are under the age of 24, no kids, not married whether you earned your owned income, whether you live with your parents or not you are still considered a Dependant student.

Fill out the FAFSA no matter how much income your parents make because it is not just income that determines your Fin Aid Need other factors are considered.
