Can I still get financial aid when I owe money in taxes?

I ended up accidently checking the exempt status on my tax information for work (I didn't know what it was, it was my first job), so they didn't take out any federal tax for the year. I owe $460, my question is, I know with applying for financial aid for college you need to file your taxes for the year first. Could I still be given financial aid even though I owe on my taxes?

Live in California, I'm 21, haven't lived at home since I was 18, my father was a vetren, and my mother is disabled.

You can file for financial aid even if you didnt file your taxes.. but you must be very careful because they do check up on those who didnt file taxes. if you owe money to the irs.. the govt can choose to not grant you financial aid. Pay your irs taxes off.. it will bite you in the butt later on if you dont. Ive seen them take money out of your pay check...

Ask the financial aid department at the school you want to attend classes at.
