Financial Aid, Scholarships, Grants, ECT?

I know there's a ton of information on this out there, but I'm having absolutely no luck at all in finding or getting any of that money.

I've been to freewebs, and college board, but I'm lost. I apply for these scholarships, and there's so many people out there that are applying for these that I haven't been picked.

Either 1) give me tips on how to stand out to receive this money or 2) give me tips on better ways to receive grants/scholarships/aid

Thanks.
