Does anyone know about Florida laws on different state custody? We live in kentucky and his kids live in fl.?

We live in kentucky and my boyfriends kids live in FL. He's going through a nasty divorce and wants either joint custody or full custody. The kids mom pushes buttons to get him in trouble and has threatened to get him fired from work. He's willing to fight, but he can't afford a lawyer. From what we've heard he can't get legal aid unless he's a resident. Any information would help.

Without a hearing on the case in question it is unclear what his rights currently are . Without a temporary custody order signed by a judge if divorce proceedings have begun in Florida it is illegal to take any child 17 or under out of the state . So if his wife has a case pending he has no rights to take the children out of state . 3rd degree felony in the state of Florida for taking the kids out of state regardless of whether or not the ex has agreed to it or not . The court is in charge at this point and he needs to seek a court hearing . .Be careful the law is a tricky thing . There is a federal jurisdiction act that may be helpful suggest you go to the library and check out your options .
