A question about Identity Theft?

My mother has recently had her identity stolen in CA. We are from NY, and it seems the detectives in CA are doing NOTHING to catch this person. She has had her identity stolen first at Target- which she reported right away. Then Sam's Club (also reported) and finally Home Depot. This person charged at least $15,000. My mother has repeatedly had to defend herself to these credit card companies- and I just feel like if it keeps happening, then they can't be keeping a good eye on the case. Has anyone experienced this? We believe a financial aid company based in CA sold her information but we are not sure.

I've had many problems with that, in my case it was a relative.But luckily it wasnt financial fraud.
The police will ask you to prove it or some other garbage like that cause their lazy. You should contact the cal state attorney generals office they may be able to file a warrant for arrest. But Im surprised the CC company didnt do that already,
also tell the CC company to cancel the accounts cause its a stolen SS#.
But the worst is that the person doesnt stop even after they get caught so youre mother will have to monitor it from now on.

Identity Theft is a contemporary term for good old-fashioned fraud, and in many cases the person who claims to be the "victim" is actually the perpetrator of the fraud.
