FASFA and Financial Aid?

I am not able to file my fasfa without my parents financial information even though I don't live with them and they don't support me. This will prevent me from obtaining any kind of grants or financial aid other than loans which I don't want. I barley make over the federal poverty level and want to go back to school. I can't afford to go back to school if I have to pay for it myself and I really don't want to have to wait another year to fill out my fasfa. Is there any way for me to get financial aid?

I cannot fill out my fasfa with out their information, they are very stict about it. Unless I am over 23 by jan 1, 08; have a kid, or am married, I can not fill it out with out their information even if I don't live with them or they don't support me financially. It tells you this right on the application.

Yes. Convince your parents to give you the info. It's the only way. By providing it, they arent obligating themselves to pay for your school... on the contrary, they are allowing you to pay for it yourself.

EDIT: Most students under 24 and unmarried are required to put their parents income down. You cant just decide not to enter your folks info.... as other folks here indicate. The dependency questions are listed here...

if you're over 25 then you should be all good, but if not, present them info on proof why they won't support you, makeup a mental illness about them or something. Also in-less your parents make alot of money, you should still be able to get some financial aide

i filed fasfa not too long ago and i believe that if you dont live with your parents and they do support you in any way you dont need them. call the school you are interested in going to and their financial aid department will help you.

You must have clicked something then, because if you put that yopu are independent it will not ask you about your parents income...it will ask you abotu theirs...unless you lived with them for 06 taxes and tehy claimed you as a dependent. I JUST filled this out about 3 days ago. This is the only way I know to reallly get financial aid and DEFINATELY the best...it's how I got my scholarships. I reapply every year though.

Seriously, don't panic just go oever ALL questions. You DONT want to answer questions about your parents. I know somewhere there is a question taht says tht you CAN answer these questions, but you don't have to, but once you agree to answer them, you have to, so just go back to that and say you don't wish to answer them. Your application will not be denied. You just all grants. The reality is, FAFSA is there to assist you with going to school. If you want to go to school, then take the loans and get good career to pay off the loans. Anyway, if you wanted to buy a house or a car you would take out a loan for that. But, when it comes to your education, something that can't be foreclosed or taking away you say no? Then, you may have to find a scholarship or get two jobs.
