Living Expenses and Financial Aid Needed?! Help!?

I am 21 years old and I have never attended college. I lost my job about three months ago, and have decided to go to college to become a nurse. Right now I'm living in my parents basement, they make barely enough money to support themselves, and adding me makes things even more difficult. I was wondering if anyone knew of any program or of any type of financial aid that would help me with living expenses? If anyone has any information, please let me know, thanks.

Have you tried going to the state workforce office? Some states will pay for you to retrain for another career. Nursing is among them I believe due to the nursing shortage. I have a friend who utilized the program but for another career field when her manufacturing plant downsized. I will include some other free resources to locate money to attend college.

First, complete the FAFSA form. Unfortunately, you will have to enter your parents' income and savings, but it can also work in your benefit, too in some cases. It will qualify you for need based financial aid such as the Pell Grant, need based scholarships, work study program, and student loans. This form needs to be completed yearly until you graduate from school. The form becomes available January 1 each year for the upcoming fall semester or quarter.

Second, search Google.com and Yahoo.com for nursing grants and scholarships from your state.

Finally, join several free membership scholarships search websites. You enter a profile, and it will search for scholarships matching your profile. There is a scholarship for almost anything out there.
