Financial aid, when can I apply alone? |
I've always been a little confused about applying for Financial Aid. I am a 21 year old female, and I've been working for years. I still live at my moms, and she doesn't pay anything for me. Let alone, she recieves disability. But when I sign up on the FAFSA site, I have to add her name even though I'm almost 22 years old. It won't let me do it any other way so I'm confused! How do I apply for Financial Aid without having to put my mothers information in it? Must be 23, parent or married.. IF you can prove that she is not carrying you, you may be able to get the school to do a special circumstances and classify you as independent.. They can if they want to though most don't want to actually work for the students.. we are not important enough,. You have to be at least 23 or a ward of the state to be considered independant. Its stupid, but thats the way it works....Its not based on whether you're on your own or not. |
