I need to sign up for Medical...or Medicare...or...which one? how? please help.? |
I'm 20 years old and I live in San Jose, California. I want to apply for some kind of health insurance. I'm on a very limited income, and if there was a free program that would be the most practical for me. I also have a tooth that needs to be removed. I've been neglecting to get this done for a few years, and i think its time. This would be easier with some finacial aid. Well any information as to what (medical or medicare or...) kind of insurance i might want, and how (what type of government office) i would go about applying would be much appreciated. Medical is welfare No. Contact your county's department of social services. They can provide you with services until you get a job with insurance. Medicare is only for people who get SDI. Medi-Cal is generally easily available to those with children, harder for single people to obtain. MIA is a Medically Indingent Adult program you can apply for, it is for those who have no income or limited income. It can be obtained through county social services First of all medicare is for the elderly who draw social security. Go to your local social service and apply for medicade which is for the poor and children with no insurance. Sounds like you are looking to sign up for Medicaid, not medical or medicare. You cannot get Medicare because you have limited income or your tooth needs pulling. Medicare is for mostly elder people or people who have life threatening disease. Their is a plan it is called Care Credit for dental and vision problems. You can apply on the Internet. well, in order to get government aide or medicaid you would have to have a qualifying child. do you have a child? go to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHS) and apply for Medicaid. Why don't you use the local free clinic services that are provided for you. Medicaid should be reserved for people who are actually ill and unable to work. Example: A child is born with a heart condition where they have a hole in the heart and their valves are not working properly. The doctors have told them that they will have 3 or more heart surguries in their lifetime (starting at infancy) and they are never to lift over 5 pounds or work. That's a real need that our tax money should go to. Try applying for Medicaid. There is no cost for dr visits, prescriptions, etc. Or try this discount plan http://mybenefitsplus.com/40436527 this is a plan that saves you money on all pre existing conditions, prescriptions, vision, hospital stays, labs, x-rays,etc. Includes dental also up to 80% off. $49.95 per month. The dental only plan, which includes vision, dental, RX is only $11.95 per month. Use your benefits immediately, no waiting period. |
