What's is financial aid?

I'm starting college for the first time and learning about what I need to do to get in. I also need more information about financial aid? What does it do? Thanks!

Mentioning where you come from and where you plan to go would help a lot answering your question. :) It depends much on what's available at the place of study.

To my knowledge, the general idea of financial aid as far as a government is concerned, is to either give money, or serve as a warrant for your financial institution to lend you some (all depending your needs and other calculations).

You can also try and find financial aid from many private sources... a lot of programs exist. The best start would be to get info at the college you plan to go at.
