Green Dot Credit Cards?

When you buy these pre paid credit cards from CVS or Rite Aid what information do you have to provide to them to get the card.

All they want is the dollar amount you want Plus their fee!

You will not have to provide any information to these companies who offer the Green Dot cards.

Essentially these cards are prepaid debit cards. You will give the cashier a specific amount (say $50). The cashier will then add that amount to your card which will be used for cashless purchases in that store.

Keep in mind that the card is only valid in the store you are purchasing it at (ie you will not be able to use it at any other store). The card might be transferable in the sense that you can use it at a different location of that same store.

Also keep in mind that you will only be able to return goods bought on that card for a store credit. The store will not give you your cash back, and will not add the credit back onto your card.

These cards do nothing for you as far as your credit score is concerned, so you might want to investigate some other options like getting a secured credit card. This is a card which works in a similar way - you will deposit a certain amount and then have access to this balance as a line of credit.
