Is it bad for me to workout with weights and whatnot if I am still growing?


I don't know if this piece of information aids your answers in any way... but I tend to workout very hard until point of absolute muscle exhaustion.

I guess I could also add: If working out with weights while still growing is acceptable, then should it be with smaller weights and more reps or bigger weights with less reps
(note that I am trying to bulk up and tone)

Yes it can be, if you are under 17 you must be careful and use lighter weights. I would say 17 is the safe age to start weights as your bones are stronger. Also if you want to bulk up make sure you are eating lots of carbs and protein. You should eat about 5 to 6 meals a day.

the sport is healthy,do it

It is bad to work to absolute exhaustion. Work each muscle until it hurts then do three more reps. It is okay to weight lift while you are growing but make sure you give each muscle group a day of rest in between work outs.

do more reps with smaller weights, and don't work out so hard, it can cause issues for your bones and joints in the long run, especially since you are still growing.
