Where are people getting this ridiculous information?

I found posts that seem to suggest no one should masturbate until adulthood. This is just absurd. Then someone suggested women can't even orgasm until they hit their twenties? I'm half expecting to soon stumble across questions like 鈥渃an you get pregnant from kissing?鈥?or 鈥渃an you get AIDS from a toilet seat?鈥?I guess those sex education classes that are forced on us as children aren't working.

I don't think those things. At my school, there is no sex ed. I think you learn a little about it in health class, but I tested out of that.

You no, I'm not sure enough people take them classes. Or that there is no common sense left out there.

I've thought the same thing many times after reading some of the suggestions people post. Not only is the sex ed not being learned, the spelling and grammar seem to be ignored or not learned as well.

I have seen those last 2 questions here. I am afraid it is the gene pool in America. Not all that good.

My thought is that it's from people assuming and guessing, then proclaiming it as gospel.

It's likely it's coming from some people's experience and sharing that with friends. I have known a number of women who were so nervous about masturbation and/or inexperienced in sex that they weren't able to HAVE an orgasm until they were older.

There's also a high probability that Sex Ed isn't as good as it used to be because of parental complaints that their kids shouldn't know this stuff (which encourages them to experiment in ignorance instead of being educated).

Oh trust me, I have been asked "can you get AIDS from a toilet seat" when I was in my residency.

Personally, I blame bush and his neo-conservative policies regarding sex education.

Actually, since Bush's NCLB (No Child Left Behind) there is no more sex education taught in schools, just abstinence.

Dr D...why is teaching abstinence bad?? I think if more young people practiced abstinence it would eliminate a whole lot of problems.
You can teach abstinence while still teach sex education. It all depends on HOW it's taught. I also think Parents are the ones who should teach their children about sex and MORALS. We are not dogs, and in my humble opinion some people, young or old, behave just like that.

I don't mind the questions, because at least the people are taking steps to find out for themselves even if they're stupid questions, I just don't like the stupid answers. What gets me is how so many people are confused about the hymen. It's not hard to understand the link (or not) between hymen or virginity, and why do people keep thinking the hymen is inside the vagina and saying that? I think it must be some conservative thing taught to people now we know the hymen isn't related to having sex...they now think it's deep inside where you can't see...so they CAN tell if you're a virgin or not...sigh...
