I am doing a feature for World AIDS day and am looking to interview someone with AIDS, how would I do this?

I do not want to offend anyone and would like to get a personal story from the area that I live in (South Wales)

Any suggestions on how to do this, what organisations to contact and where I could find out more information would be gratefully received.

I didn't make this clear but the interview is for radio so i can't do an online email interview.

i am sure that if you did a google there will be a local outreach support group for gay men affected with AIDS. alternatively you could go to your local gaybar and ask around and i am sure someone will be able to help you there. you could even get in contact with the "terrence higgins trust" that is a support line and they may help you. oh ok...very sensitive...its like a photographers job if he has to take images for a nspcc advert or the smoking adverts where the guy is gasping for breath. :( very sensitive stuff and it needs soem thought. Olivero Tuscani did stuff for the Colours of Bennetton adverts. very sensitive but you need to ask them nicely, politely and say what it is for. 'to enlighten the world of how you feel' etc u need to be careful about hwat u say...just saying.

Sheffield or Nottingham, or Manchester more likely, will have one organisation or another, an AIDS support group. If approached politely and told why, they might help, as long as it promised to be tasteful and nonjudgmental. I'd look in the telephone directory or Google it.

contact some organisation that does the social work in the field of hiv-aids awareness/ rehabilatation. Some of these institutes employ some people living with aids to help other. such volunteers would definitely help u. soch organisations are present in almost all towns

go to a hospital?

I would suggest going to your local health center (the type of place that would do std screenings) or hospital, and explaining very tactfully what you are doing. Then ask if they could think of anyone who might be interested. DO NOT ASK FOR THIS PERSONS INFO, they can't give it out. Maybe type up a letter, directed to this anonymous person and ask if they could possibly bring up the concept to them, and hope they get back to you. That is the only thing I can think of, because all medical info is confidential.

I know of a CURE for Aids it is Called Essiac It cures cancer as well. Why don't the doctors tell us of this? They are paid by the drug companies to shut the frick up. Drug companies do not want a cure. That would take millions and millions of dollars out of thier pockets Maybe even billions or trillions. And that isn't pleasing to those crooks. And who endorses the crooks? The FDA, the president with a little p because hes worthless. The drug companies Don't care iota for the publics welfare. sell useless drugs that never cure, just prolong the inevitable for a while. I also don't blieve in the Cancer Society or the Heart Association. They want our money but will never produce a cure. Its against thier better judgement. But they will never allow anyone to know what they really want. To get rich, without helping anyone.

Do you live in a city? Find out if there is a gay community center there, write and explain your project. Offer to do the interview online to respect confidentiality.

Contac the Terrence Higgins Trust http://www.tht.org.uk/ an organisation which provides support and information about HIV. They have many workers and volunteers who are HIV+ and one of those may be willing to be interviewed by you.

I have a few friends who are HIV positive, and generally they don't like to talk about it, especially if they have full blown AIDS. Its a very sensitive subject, and I would suggest some other type of project.
