Music sponsorship, scholarship, financial aid?

Hi Helpers;
my son is 11 years old, he is extremly talented in Music, he is accepted by the best music school pre-college division in this country in NYC studying violin, starting this Sept.

We only got $1000 financial aid from the school, while the cost will go over $10K each year, we are a single income family of three kids living in central New Jersey. We could not cover the cost of my sons study.

I saw many scholarships in different states for Young Talented kids, I could not find anything in New Jersey.

Could anyone help me to find some sponsorship, scholarship, financial aid information? Any foundations that I could contact to help my son's study?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

CL

Hi CL,

First of all, congratulations to your son! That is an amazing accomplishment! And kudos to you and your wife for nurturing your son's talent.

Check into this opportunity offered by NPR's "From the Top," a program spotlighting talented young musicians.

You might also find some possibilities from the New Jersey Performing Arts Center:

Also, I don't know if any of these scholarships are for the pre-college set, but check out the lists of scholarships, grants, & foundations at:

and

Best wishes to you all - I sincerely hope you find a source of funding so that your son can benefit from this awesome opportunity. I've been teaching music for almost 20 years & am committed to helping all children receive the musical education they deserve.
