Do you have to be admitted into the college before getting a student reward letter?

You can write down a lot of school codes on the FAFSA application, which makes me wonder, do you have to be admitted to all the schools you wrote down in order to get financial aid information from them? Could you fill up a FAFSA and then receive a student reward letter even without applying for admission to any one of those schools? Or must you be admitted to the college that you will be applying financial aid for in order to get reward information? I hope these questions make sense.

I'm asking these questions for a friend, who wants to know which college would be the most affordable after financial aid. She doesn't want to pay each of the three colleges she is considering 50 dollars for admission. So I'm trying to see if she doesn't have to.

Your FAFSA application is only sent to the first school code on the list. I really don't know why they ask for more than one school code.

Even if you're not accepted to the school, the FAFSA will still be sent to that school. It's then the schools decision whether or not to give out information if she has applied or not.

If she's worried about application fees, some schools offer to waive the fee if they fill out the apps online. So make sure your friend looks into that. And if your friend is eligible for full aid, she could also be eligible to get the money back for the application fee.

It also depends on the price of the school, how much financial aid she will recieve.

Oh and by the way, if she wants the FAFSA information to go to another school, all she needs to do is go back into the FAFSA and change the #1 school code to whichever school she wants.

Yes. Each school offers a different financial aid package to individual students.

If she is poor, she can apply for an application fee waiver.
