I need information on divorce in Pennslyvania? |
a good friend of mine move to the Philadelphia area with her husband and children in July 2006, he has always been a liar and his true colors have began to show more recently. About a month ago he beat the crap out if her. She had been a resident of Michigan for her entire life before hand, she isn't familiar with the laws there. Im looking for any information, or resource to help her get out of this situation. She had planned on taking the car to her father's in another state, however he can have her charged with theft because the car isn't in both of thier names, at this moment he is demanding she pay the bills( with the money she was going to use to consult a lawyer). Are there women's shelter's that will help her file for divorce or somewhere in her area that offers legal aid to women in her situation? HELP please http://divorcesupport.about.com/od/state... Pennsylvania law declares anything purchased during the marriage; marital property so it doesn't matter if it is in his name. She needs to leave immediately and worry about the rest afterwards. Did she get pictures of the bruises? She needs to get a protection order against him so he has to stay away from her by law. She could always take a bus back to her family in Michigan and file for a divorce there where she will have the support of people who love her. |
