ummm... i have no idea, but my dad reckons that they help heal cuts and stuff coz it sucks out the gross stuff coz the wound is trying to get air. dunno if it's true or not. lol.

band aids are supposed to be or most commonly used to stop bleeding but they also keep things out that could infect your cut. and bcuz there r so many different kids that they make lol they do different things i guess.
